Define Certificate Management

Certificate Management is a software used for monitoring, processing, and executing every process in a certificate life cycle. They are responsible for issuing, renewal, and deployment on the endpoints (servers, appliances, or devices) so that the network is uninterrupted. They should be able to do automated tasks (issuing, renewal, and so on), as well as provide real time status of the infrastructure.

Certificate Management Software helps manage the network, preventing interruptions and downtime in the network while providing a detailed monitoring of the whole infrastructure. There can be thousands of devices and appliances, excluding users which may be difficult to do without management software. If a certificate expires or a certificate is misconfigured, that may lead to catastrophic outages all over the network.
