What is Code Signing?

Code Signing is a process where digital signatures are used to sign codes such as executables and scripts. Later, this can verify the author’s identity as well as ensure that the code was not modified since it was signed. This helps organizations and users trust a software.

Code Signing can increase trust by

  • Authenticating that the author is actually the one who wrote the software
  • Integrity check verifying the software was not modified, and hence the software is not any kind of trojan for malicious code.
