    Insights About the Whitepaper

The CNSA 2.0 transition turns on a small number of decisions that shape everything else.

    2035 is the deadline

All NSS must be fully quantum-resistant by 2035. New NSS acquisitions must be CNSA 2.0 compliant from January 2027.

    The approved suite is narrow

NSS uses AES-256, ML-KEM-1024, ML-DSA-87, SHA-384/512, and LMS or XMSS for firmware. SLH-DSA is a NIST standard but not approved for NSS.

    Firmware can’t wait

Firmware often can’t be updated after deployment. NSA recommends adopting LMS or XMSS now, not waiting for ML-DSA.
